Project Scope

This design-build project includes extensive upgrades to the structural, electrical, drainage, SCADA, and architectural components of six WMATA fan shafts. The work will significantly enhance operational reliability, safety, and efficiency for the railway system and its operators. By replacing aging electrical, structural, architectural, and drainage components, the project will ensure high ventilation performance, which is essential for safe air quality and temperature control within the tunnels. Enhanced structural repairs, waterproofing, and corrosion-resistant materials will improve long-term durability, reducing maintenance needs and downtime. Updated electrical systems and improved lighting and signage will streamline inspections and emergency responses, supporting continuous and safe railway operations while lowering long-term costs for WMATA.
